How to Choose a Luxury Granite Headstone: Angel, Heart & Custom Designs
Reviewed by Arslan Hajiyev, Founder of H Memorial Group
What makes a headstone “luxury”?
Three things separate a luxury memorial from a standard tablet: a design created for one family, sculptural or artistic detail, and careful selection of stone and finish. Remembrance Headstones is the luxury memorial company within H Memorial Group, and its primary work is custom headstones, family monuments, sculptural and angel memorials, statues, reliefs and memorial art.
Every commission begins with the family’s story, the cemetery’s requirements and the goals for the project. The team then coordinates concept development, design, proof approval and documented sign-off before anything is cut.
Angel headstones: protection and peace
Angels are among the most requested luxury motifs. They are often read as guardians, messengers or a sign of peace. Our angel collection includes five designs, with catalog starting prices from about $11,998.80 to $26,664.00. Examples:
- The Luxury Mourning Angel Memorial, a reflective kneeling figure.
- The Luxury Guardian Angel Heart Memorial with Roses, which combines an angel with a heart.
- The Luxury Companion Granite Headstone with Praying Angels, designed for couples.
When choosing an angel, look closely at the face, hands and feathers in the proof. These details carry the emotion of the piece.
Heart-shaped headstones: love made permanent
Heart memorials express devotion simply. They work as single memorials, as companion pieces with two names, or combined with roses, hands or angels. Hearts appear across several categories, including special shaped, bench and child memorials such as the teddy-bear heart designs.
Before choosing a heart, check the cemetery’s rules on width and height. Rounded shapes need a stable base, so the base and foundation specification matters as much as the heart itself.
Custom shaped monuments
Special shaped memorials are our largest category, with 52 designs from about $3,333.00 to more than $40,000. Crosses, open books, trees of life, floral sculptures and fully original silhouettes are all possible. For a completely new concept, our designers translate sketches, photographs or ideas into a 3D proof for your review.
The production route, materials, facility and partners are chosen for each project and stated in your written project documents. The engraving method depends on the design and can include sandblasting, laser etching or carving.
How do I choose the right stone?
Our configurator offers nine stone colors, including Indian Black Premium, Blue Pearl, Indian Red, Elite Grey and Morning Rose. Dark stones give the strongest contrast for laser-etched portraits; lighter stones show deep carving through shadow. The U.S. National Park Service notes in its Preservation Brief 48 that granite is hard, has very low porosity and resists weathering far better than marble, limestone or sandstone. Compare all nine in our granite color guide.
How to review a design proof
- Check every letter, date and name against official documents.
- Confirm the overall dimensions match the cemetery’s written limits.
- Look at the artwork at full size, not only as a thumbnail.
- Ask how many revisions are included; the number is product-specific and listed on your quote.
Production starts only after final design approval, cemetery approval, complete order details, the payment milestone and the signed agreement. Warranty coverage follows the written, product-specific policy for your memorial.
